Concierge medicine is primary care paid partly through a recurring membership fee that buys longer visits and easier access to the physician.
Concierge care in Tampa: the basics
Tampa has 413,554 residents, 13.7% of them 65 or older, and a median household income of $75,475 [5]. For a Medicare patient here, a concierge doctor usually still bills Medicare for covered visits, and the membership fee pays for extras. Medicare.gov says Medicare does not cover membership fees, and doctors who accept assignment cannot charge extra for Medicare-covered services through the fee [6].

Florida's direct primary care law
Florida enacted direct primary care legislation in SB 80, signed March 23, 2018 [4]. DPC Frontier lists Florida among 32 states with a law that treats DPC agreements as outside insurance regulation [11]. Since January 1, 2026, federal law also lets people pay a qualifying DPC fee of up to $150 a month for an individual from an HSA [12] [13]. A concierge practice that bills insurance does not qualify [12]. See direct primary care and concierge vs DPC.
Hospital programs in Florida
Cleveland Clinic runs concierge medicine at Florida sites in Naples, Stuart, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Vero Beach and Weston. None is in the Tampa Bay area, and the fee is not published [14]. Mayo Clinic's executive health program runs 1 to 3 days at its Jacksonville campus, also with no posted price [15]. For a one-day checkup instead of a membership, see executive physicals.
Medicare patients: what to ask
- Which services the fee covers, in writing. If any are things Medicare will not pay for, Medicare.gov says the doctor must give you an Advance Beneficiary Notice [6].
- Whether the doctor accepts Medicare assignment, has opted out, or is non-participating. Non-participating doctors can charge up to 15% more than the Medicare-approved amount [6].
- What happens to your records and prescriptions if you cancel.
