How we check

Functional medicine: cost and how to find a doctor

We could not confirm a published functional medicine program price as of October 17, 2026: the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine fee page and the Parsley Health pricing page did not load when our researchers tried, so this page gives no price range. Related services do publish prices, such as direct primary care at $50 to $100 a month per AAFP and lab memberships like Function Health at $365 a year [1][2].

Medical review: pending. A licensed clinician has not yet reviewed this page.

What we could not confirm

  • The Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine fee page did not load for our researchers, so we do not state its fees or insurance status.
  • The Parsley Health pricing page returned an error, so we do not state Parsley Health's cost.
  • We found no national survey of functional medicine prices in our research.

If you need a number now, ask each practice for its total first-year cost in writing. The questions below help you get a figure you can compare.

Questions to ask a functional medicine practice

  1. What is the total cost for the first year, including the intake visit, follow-ups and any program or membership fee?
  2. Which lab tests are included, and what do extra tests cost?
  3. Do you sell supplements in the clinic, and are they required?
  4. Do you bill my insurance for any visits or labs?
  5. Who is the clinician, and can I check the license? State medical boards list physician licenses [8].
  6. How do I cancel a program, and is any part refunded?

HSA and FSA

The 2026 IRS rule that lets HSAs pay direct primary care fees has limits that matter here. Care must come only from primary care practitioners, a fixed periodic fee must be the only payment, the arrangement cannot bill insurance separately, and it excludes lab services not typically given in an ambulatory primary care setting [4]. Fees are capped at $150 a month for one person [4]. We found no IRS guidance in our research on functional medicine programs specifically. Function Health says its membership is HSA and FSA eligible; that is the company's statement [2].

Finding an integrative or functional medicine doctor near you

We do not keep a functional medicine directory, and we did not find one we could check against primary sources. Practical steps: search your health system's site, confirm the doctor's license with your state medical board [8], and compare the practice's written costs with a direct primary care practice or a concierge doctor in your area. If hormones are part of what you want help with, our hormone therapy guide covers costs and safety.

Why this page is limited

Our rule is to publish prices only from the practice's own page or another primary source, with the date we read it. Until we can read functional medicine price pages, this page stays incomplete. See our editorial standards.

Questions people ask

How much does functional medicine cost?

We could not confirm a published functional medicine program price as of October 17, 2026. For comparison, direct primary care generally costs $50 to $100 a month per AAFP [1] and Function Health's lab membership costs $365 a year [2].

How much does Parsley Health cost?

We could not read Parsley Health's pricing page on October 17, 2026, so we do not state its price. Ask the company for its current membership fee in writing; for comparison, AAFP puts direct primary care at $50 to $100 a month [1].

Is functional medicine covered by insurance?

We could not confirm insurance coverage for functional medicine programs in our research. Ask the practice which visits and labs it bills to your plan. Direct primary care, by contrast, generally does not bill insurance [1].

Can I use an HSA for functional medicine?

IRS Notice 2026-5 lets HSAs pay direct primary care fees only when care comes from primary care practitioners for a fixed fee of no more than $150 a month for one person, without separate insurance billing [4]. We found no IRS guidance on functional medicine programs specifically.

How do I check a functional medicine doctor's credentials?

Look up the doctor's license with your state medical board. The Federation of State Medical Boards lists every board [8].
