The cheapest brand start, and where the price goes
With a median household income of $56,160 in the city [4], the 1.5 mg Wegovy tablet at $149 a month is the lowest brand entry point [2]. It is only a starting dose: the label moves to 4 mg, 9 mg and then 25 mg over 90 days [8], and NovoCare's tablet prices step up with it (1.5 mg $149; 4 mg $199; 9 and 25 mg $299) [2]. The pen is $349 at any standard dose from 0.25 to 2.4 mg, with $199 for a new patient's two 0.25 and 0.5 mg starter fills through Dec 31, 2026 [2]. Ozempic, labeled for type 2 diabetes rather than weight loss [13], is $349, or $499 at 2 mg [7]. See Wegovy pill, semaglutide cost and Ozempic cost.
Results in one paragraph
Wegovy holds approvals for chronic weight reduction and for cutting cardiovascular death, heart attack and stroke risk in adults with heart disease plus excess weight [8]. STEP 1 participants on 2.4 mg averaged 14.9% loss at 68 weeks against 2.4% on placebo [9], and in the extension most of it returned after stopping: about two-thirds within a year [10]. Missouri checks
The Missouri Board of Registration for the Healing Arts licenses the state's doctors [11]. BJC HealthCare, a St. Louis health system, is one place to ask about primary care or endocrinology referrals. Any compounded semaglutide offered locally lacks FDA approval and FDA quality review [12]; see compounded semaglutide.
Other Medicaid-covering states: semaglutide in Nashville (TennCare) and Minneapolis. Nearby cities: Kansas City, Indianapolis and Chicago. Broader care here: medical weight loss in St. Louis.
Semaglutide safety
Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting and constipation are the usual complaints. A personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer, or MEN 2, rules it out. Stop and get care for severe stomach pain that persists. Diabetic patients using insulin or sulfonylureas face more lows, and those with diabetic eye disease should report vision changes [8]. Trouble breathing: call 911.
