Getting semaglutide online means a licensed clinician prescribes Wegovy, Ozempic or a compounded semaglutide product after a remote visit, and a pharmacy ships it or holds it for pickup.

- $149 (1.5 mg), $199 (4 mg), $299 (9 and 25 mg) a month [1]
- Wegovy pen self-pay
- $349 a month; $199 for the first 2 fills at 0.25 or 0.5 mg through Dec 31, 2026; 7.2 mg $399 [1]
- Compounded semaglutide
- Not FDA-approved; 990 adverse event reports to FDA as of May 31, 2026 [3]

Prescription first, then pharmacy
Every semaglutide product sold legally in the US needs a prescription. That includes Wegovy (pen and pill) for weight, Ozempic for type 2 diabetes, and compounded semaglutide made for one patient [2] [4] [5]. To use Novo Nordisk's self-pay pharmacy, you register for the offer, your prescriber sends the prescription to NovoCare Pharmacy, and you choose free home delivery or use the offer at a local pharmacy [1].
Websites that sell semaglutide with no prescription usually call it "research use only" or "not for human consumption." FDA has warned those sellers and says the products are of unknown quality and may be harmful [3]. See research-use-only GLP-1s.
Who can write it
The Wegovy and Ozempic labels do not limit prescribing to one specialty [2] [4]. A primary care doctor, OB-GYN, endocrinologist or telehealth clinician can prescribe it. A med spa can offer it only through a licensed prescriber. Wegovy is labeled for adults and children 12 and older (injection) or adults (tablets) with obesity, or overweight with a weight-related condition, and to lower heart risk in adults with cardiovascular disease and excess weight [2]. Ozempic is labeled for type 2 diabetes, so weight-only use is outside its label [4]. Compare them on Ozempic vs Wegovy.
Midi Health, an online menopause clinic, says its care plans may include GLP-1s, with self-pay visits of $250 (first) and $150 (return), checked Oct 17, 2026 [6]. We did not confirm which GLP-1s Midi prescribes, or the VA's rules for semaglutide; ask each directly.

A year of brand Wegovy, pen or pill
Following the label escalation, a year of pens is 13 boxes: 2 x $199 for the first two fills plus 11 x $349, or $398 + $3,839 = $4,237 [1] [2]. A year of pills is 12 bottles: $149 + $199 + $299 for the first three months, then 9 x $299 at 25 mg, or $647 + $2,691 = $3,338 [1] [2]. Telehealth fees are extra. Wegovy pill vs injection compares results and side effects.
Oral semaglutide online
The only FDA-approved oral semaglutide for weight is the Wegovy pill, approved Dec 22, 2025 [12]. It is taken each morning on an empty stomach with no more than 4 ounces of plain water, and you wait at least 30 minutes before eating or taking other pills [2]. Novo sells it at pharmacies with its savings offer, through NovoCare home delivery and through select telehealth providers [1].
Some programs sell compounded semaglutide tablets, drops or lozenges. FDA's main page on unapproved GLP-1s does not address oral compounded versions [3]. The ad watchdog NAD found one seller's claims for compounded semaglutide tablets unsubstantiated and referred it to regulators after it refused to comply [13]. Willow review.
Red flags when buying semaglutide online
- No prescriber review, or "approval" before anyone reads your history.
- Claims that a compounded product is "generic Wegovy," has the "same active ingredient," or is "FDA-approved." FDA cites these as misleading [14] [15].
- Semaglutide sodium or semaglutide acetate. FDA says these salt forms are different active ingredients and it knows of no lawful basis to compound with them [3].
- Ozempic pens far below NovoCare prices. FDA warns of counterfeit Ozempic in the US [3], and the Justice Department charged two people on Sept 29, 2026 over a counterfeit Ozempic scheme [16].
- A vial that arrives warm. FDA says not to use injectables that arrive warm and to discard compounded multi-dose vials 28 days after first use [3].

Safety facts from the Wegovy label
Semaglutide carries a boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumors seen in rodents; do not use it with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2 [2]. Get care for severe stomach pain that does not go away (possible pancreatitis) and for signs of a serious allergic reaction [2]. Low blood sugar risk rises with insulin or a sulfonylurea [2]. Stop Wegovy when pregnancy is recognized, and at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy [2]. In an emergency, call 911.
For dose schedules, see semaglutide dosage. If cost is the deciding factor, online GLP-1 programs compared lists every program we checked.
