Wegovy is Novo Nordisk's brand of semaglutide for chronic weight management, sold as a once-weekly injection and a once-daily pill, and also approved to lower the risk of heart attack, stroke and cardiovascular death in adults with heart disease and overweight or obesity [2].
Wegovy prices by channel
Novo Nordisk sells Wegovy at one flat self-pay price for all standard pen doses, so the step-up schedule does not raise your bill the way it does for Zepbound. One month means one box of four pens [1]. The pill has its own price list on our Wegovy pill page, and every GLP-1 sits side by side in the GLP-1 Price Tracker.

Is Wegovy cheaper at Costco, CVS or Walmart?
Novo's self-pay price works at more than 70,000 US pharmacies with the savings offer, and NovoCare prescriptions can be picked up at more than 9,000 CVS stores, according to Novo's November 2025 launch release [8]. Costco began selling Wegovy for $499 a month in October 2025, the direct price at that time [9]. A third-party tracker reported Costco cash prices matching NovoCare's in September 2026 [10]; we could not confirm that with Costco. In short, the store matters less than whether the pharmacy runs Novo's self-pay offer.
What the price leaves out
- The visit. NovoCare needs a prescription from your own clinician. Telehealth programs bill separately, for example LifeMD's $149 monthly program fee after the first month [7].
- The end of the intro price. The $199 rate covers two fills of the starter doses. From the third month you pay $349 [1].
- The high dose. The label allows 7.2 mg for adults if 2.4 mg has been tolerated for at least 4 weeks and more weight loss is needed [2]. That dose costs $399, not $349 [1].
- Your deductible. NovoCare self-pay payments do not count toward insurance deductibles [1].
- The yearly total. A box holds four weekly pens, so a year is 13 boxes. Two intro fills plus eleven at $349 come to $4,237 for the first year.
How to get Wegovy for $25, $199 or $349
- $25: only with commercial insurance that already covers Wegovy. The offer cuts your copay, up to $100 a month [1]. Read how plans decide on Wegovy.
- $199: new self-pay patients on 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg, first two monthly fills, through Dec 31, 2026 [1].
- $349: anyone 18 or older in the US with a prescription, paying cash [1].
- Steps: register for the savings offer, have your prescriber send the prescription to NovoCare Pharmacy, then choose free home delivery or use the offer at a local pharmacy [1].
People on Medicare or Medicaid
Novo says people in government programs may pay the self-pay price but cannot use the $25 commercial offer [1]. Medicare Part D members who meet the Bridge criteria pay $50 a month for Wegovy pens or pills through Dec 31, 2027 [11] [5]. See Medicare and Medicaid GLP-1 coverage.

Safety notes from the Wegovy label
Wegovy has a boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumors seen in rodents; do not use it with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2 [2]. Warnings include pancreatitis (severe stomach pain that will not go away), gallbladder disease, low blood sugar with insulin or a sulfonylurea, and allergic reactions. The label says to stop when pregnancy is recognized and at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy [2]. For an emergency, call 911. Read more on Wegovy side effects.
Questions people ask
How much is Wegovy without insurance?
Wegovy pens cost $349 a month for 0.25 mg to 2.4 mg through NovoCare Pharmacy and $399 for the 7.2 mg high dose. New self-pay patients pay $199 for their first two fills of 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg through Dec 31, 2026 (NovoCare, checked Oct 17, 2026) [1].
Can you really get Wegovy for $25?
Only if you have commercial insurance that covers Wegovy. Novo's savings offer can lower the copay to $25 a month, with savings capped at $100 a month. It does not apply to Medicare, Medicaid or other government plans, or to people paying cash [1].
How does the Wegovy savings program work for cash buyers?
Register for the offer, have your prescriber send the prescription to NovoCare Pharmacy, and pay $349 a month ($199 for the first two starter fills if you are new). You can get free home delivery or use the offer at a local pharmacy. You must be 18 or older and live in the US [1].
How much is Wegovy at Costco or CVS?
Is there a generic for Wegovy?
No generic Wegovy is sold. Compounded semaglutide is not a generic: it is not FDA-approved and FDA does not review it for safety, effectiveness or quality [19].
Will Wegovy get cheaper in 2027?
The list price falls from $1,349 to $675 a month on Jan 1, 2027, but Novo says self-pay prices are not affected [4]. People with insurance may see changes depending on how their plan prices the drug.
Is Zepbound cheaper than Wegovy?
Do you need a prescription for Wegovy?
Yes. NovoCare Pharmacy fills Wegovy only with a prescription from a licensed prescriber, who can be your own clinician or a telehealth program [1].
