Tirzepatide is the active ingredient in Zepbound and Mounjaro, a weekly injection that acts on both GIP and GLP-1 hormone receptors.
Two approved uses for Zepbound
Zepbound is approved for long-term weight reduction in adults with obesity, or overweight with a weight-related condition, and for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity [6]. FDA approved the sleep apnea use on December 20, 2024 [7]. With 38.2% of Indianapolis adults living with obesity [2], ask whether sleep apnea testing makes sense for you too. Mounjaro, the same molecule, is approved for type 2 diabetes [8].

Licensing in Indiana
Physicians are licensed by the Medical Licensing Board of Indiana [4]. Online prescribers should hold an Indiana license. FDA has issued warning letters to dozens of telehealth companies over compounded GLP-1 marketing [9], and compounded tirzepatide is not FDA-approved or reviewed by FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality [10]. Check our warning letter tracker.
Staying on it: SURMOUNT-4 and side effects
SURMOUNT-4 put everyone on tirzepatide for 36 weeks, then split them. By week 88 the group that kept going was down 25.3% overall; the group moved to placebo ended at 9.9% [11]. Side effects are the usual reason people stop: in SURMOUNT-1, 6.2% of the 15 mg group quit because of them [12]. Nearby: Chicago, Nashville, and where to get tirzepatide.
Label warnings
Pancreatitis is listed on the label: get care for severe stomach pain that persists [13]. Watch for allergic reactions. Using tirzepatide with insulin or a sulfonylurea raises the risk of low blood sugar. Tirzepatide carries a boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumors and is contraindicated with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2. Stop Zepbound when pregnancy is recognized. Tell any surgeon or anesthesia team you take it. Call 911 in an emergency.
