Concierge medicine is primary care paid partly through a yearly membership fee that buys longer visits and direct access to the doctor.
Texas prices and Texas law
Texas defined direct primary care in law in 2015, through HB 1945, now in chapter 162, subchapter F of the Occupations Code [3]. DPC practices charge a periodic fee and generally do not bill insurance, while concierge practices charge a larger annual retainer and may still bill your plan [2]. The one Texas concierge fee we confirmed is $2,400 a year at an MDVIP physician in Arlington, with $600 quarterly or $1,200 semi-annual options [1]. MDVIP says its fee pays for an annual wellness program of screenings not usually covered by insurance [5].

Longevity clinics in Austin
Longevity clinics usually sell testing (advanced blood panels, scans, fitness tests) rather than primary care. Most are cash-only and not covered by insurance. Before buying, ask which tests are included, who reads the results, and whether a doctor will act on them. Compare national options in longevity clinics and longevity blood tests.
Paying with an HSA in 2026
With a median household income of $93,658 [4], many Austin families have high-deductible plans with HSAs. Since January 1, 2026, DPC fees up to $150 a month for one person or $300 for a family can come out of an HSA without losing the right to contribute [8]. Arrangements that bill insurance separately, which is how most concierge practices work, are excluded from that rule [8].
Contract points to check
- Is there an annual contract, and what is the cancellation refund?
- Are labs inside the fee? One MDVIP page we read adds a separate $70 lab charge [9].
- Does the doctor accept Medicare? Medicare does not cover membership fees [10].
- How many patients does the doctor carry, and who covers when they are away?
