Medicare patients: what the fee may and may not cover

  • Medicare does not pay concierge membership fees [10].
  • A doctor who accepts Medicare assignment cannot charge the fee for Medicare-covered services [10].
  • If the fee covers items Medicare will not pay for, the doctor must give you an Advance Beneficiary Notice listing them [10].

Concierge, DPC or executive physical

The AAFP describes direct primary care as low monthly fees, generally without insurance, and concierge care as higher annual fees that may sit alongside insurance billing [11]. New York has no DPC statute on record with DPC Frontier [6]. Compare models on concierge vs direct primary care, or see executive physicals and longevity clinics for the testing-heavy end of the market.

  4. How many patients does the doctor carry, and who covers nights and vacations?
  5. Can I see the license on the State Education Department site [12]?
