Why we rate it avoid
Our rule rates a provider avoid when a regulator has taken action against it. In July 2026 the FTC, Utah and Los Angeles County sued Hims & Hers in federal court in California. The suit alleges undisclosed subscription enrollment, hard cancellation with continued charges, and sharing health data with Meta and Snap for ads [2]. These are allegations. They matter more than usual here because the cheapest Hims testosterone price requires a 10-month prepayment [1].
Hims testosterone cost
| Plan | Price | What is included | Checked | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10-month plan | From $99 a month, paid upfront and in full | Compounded enclomiphene | Oct 17 2026 | Hims [1] |
| 3-month or 5-month plan | Offered; price not captured | Compounded enclomiphene | Oct 17 2026 | Hims [1] |
| At-home lab kit | Not stated whether included | Test before starting; recheck at 3 months | Oct 17 2026 | Hims [1] |
At $99 a month, the 10-month plan means about $990 paid at checkout. Compare the TRT cost guide, where generic testosterone cypionate runs about $20 to $31 per 1 mL vial at retail with a coupon [4].
What enclomiphene is, and what the research shows
Hims says enclomiphene "is not FDA-approved and has not been evaluated for safety, effectiveness, or quality" and "remains investigational and is only available through compounding pharmacies or clinical trials" [1]. It is not testosterone. Hims describes it as signaling the body to make more of its own testosterone and sperm [1].
The studies Hims cites are small and short. They include a randomized study of 44 men with secondary hypogonadism treated for 6 weeks (Wiehle et al., BJU International, 2013) and a retrospective study of 46 men taking enclomiphene for at least 3 months (Thomas et al., Cureus, 2023) [1]. Hims itself notes "limited research on the side effects of enclomiphene" [1]. We could not open the studies themselves. There is no FDA label for enclomiphene, so there is no approved dose, indication or warnings section to rely on.
Hims lists common side effects as headache, hot flashes, mood changes or irritability, nausea, breast tenderness and fatigue, and says to seek medical care right away for vision changes, severe headaches, signs of blood clots, mood changes or depression, signs of liver problems or fluid retention [1]. FDA record
FDA sent Hims & Hers Health dba Hims a warning letter on Sep 9 2025. It cited "same active ingredient as Ozempic and Wegovy" and "clinically proven ingredients" claims for compounded semaglutide [3]. On Feb 6 2026, FDA named Hims & Hers in an announcement about non-FDA-approved GLP-1 drugs [5]. In March 2026, Hims agreed with Novo Nordisk to offer brand Ozempic and Wegovy and stop most compounded GLP-1 marketing [6]. None of this involves testosterone, but it is the same company and billing system. See our FDA warning letter tracker.
