Semaglutide in Dallas: clinics and prices

• Wegovy pen. A once-a-week shot approved to help adults lose weight and keep it off, and to cut the odds of heart attack, stroke or cardiovascular death when heart disease and excess weight occur together ^[6].
• Wegovy pill. Taken every morning on an empty stomach with no more than 4 ounces of plain water, approved for adult weight loss ^[6].
• Ozempic. A weekly diabetes injection with no weight-loss approval ^[7].

Novo says more than 70,000 US pharmacies accept these prices with its offer, and NovoCare will ship or route an order to a CVS for pickup ^[8]. One more date for the calendar: Novo is lowering the list price of Wegovy and Ozempic to $675 a month starting January 1, 2027 ^[9], which affects what insurers pay, not the cash card above. Turning 65 in Dallas: the Bridge program

In Dallas, 11.8% of residents are 65 or older ^[4]. Older adults on Part D can tap a temporary Medicare demonstration that pays for Wegovy shots or tablets used for weight. Under it, the member's share is $50 a month, the window runs through December 31, 2027, and Ozempic is left out ^[10]. To qualify, a member needs, for example, a BMI of at least 35, or a BMI of 27 plus prediabetes or a past heart attack or stroke ^[11]. Humana reviews each prior authorization centrally and answers within 72 hours ^[10].

Texas Medicaid and commercial plans

KFF lists Texas among the states whose Medicaid program pays for no GLP-1 used for obesity ^[5]. With a commercial plan that covers Wegovy, Novo's savings offer can trim the copay to $25, though it will not cover more than $100 a month ^[1].

What STEP 1 found, and what happened after stopping

STEP 1 is the trial behind Wegovy's weight indication. Over 68 weeks, the semaglutide 2.4 mg group's average weight fell 14.9%, against 2.4% for placebo ^[12]. When a subset stopped the drug and was tracked for another year, about two-thirds of the lost weight came back ^[13]. Those are averages. See semaglutide results.

If a Dallas clinic offers compounded semaglutide

A compounded vial is a different product from Wegovy. FDA has not approved it, had 990 adverse event reports on file for compounded semaglutide through May 31, 2026, and has flagged patients who drew up the wrong amount ^[14]. Ask who compounds it, and read our compounded semaglutide guide.
